BODIPY-linked conjugated porous polymers for dye wastewater treatment

As a new family of functional porous materials, conjugated polymers (CPPs) with tuneable porosities and molecular architectures show great potentials in adsorption, light harvesting, catalysis applications. This paper describes the incorporation strong visible-light absorbing BODIPY molecules into skeleton CPPs via Sonogashira coupling reactions. The obtained displayed integrated properties high surface area, hierarchical structures absorption. result, showed relatively adsorption capacity photocatalytic degradation efficiency towards organic dyes. Mechanism studies revealed that enabled generation singlet oxygen species under irradiation, accounting for main driving force dye degradation. study provides route development adsorbents photocatalysts water treatment purification.
